Macugnaga
The alpine village of Macugnaga is perfect those looking for a holiday in the mountains in the Summer months. The Monte Rosa mountain, as well as having a fantastic view, has a glacier which is a big attraction for many tourists in the Summer.
For those who want an active holiday there is plenty to see and do. It is perfect for walkers and trekkers with lots of mapped routes for different levels of ability/experience. It is also a perfect base for which to visit Lake Maggiore and Switzerland or to explore the local villages and points of interest. For those wanting to relax it is a great place to unwind and experience the Italian culture and cuisine.
Lake Maggiore
Located exactly half way between Macugnaga and Milan Malpensa Airport is the majestic Lake Maggiore, the second largest lake in Italy stretching over 60km in length of which a third lies in Switzerland. In the centre are the 3 famous islands which can be visited by boat. The most famous resort on the lake is Stresa which is boasts a beautiful lakeside walkway with an array of flowers and plants, and a marvellous view. It is also is a perfect base to explore the lake and surrounding areas either by boat or road.
