The village of  Macugnaga is 1327m and is classed as a high altitude ski resort.

There are 2 ski areas plus nursery slopes for beginners. The Belvedere/Burki ski area is located in Pecetto & there is a chairlift which takes you up to the piste. This area is shaded at the beginning of the season keeping the snow  in perfect condition. There are various green, blue & red runs including a wonderful 3km tree lined blue/green run back to resort which is very popular with beginners & intermediate skiers. The Monte Moro ski area is reached by 2 cable cars from Staffa taking you up to a breathtaking 2970m with views of Switzerland & the Matterhorn. Here there are some testing red & black runs with an exhilarating 7km red run down  to the first cable car station. For more advanced skiing, with a guide you can ski off-piste  all the way over into Saas Fee (snow conditions permitting) .

It is possible to walk to both ski areas from your accommodation however there is also a ski bus which runs between the 2 ski areas to make your day a little easier.

This very friendly resort is ideally suited to beginners,

with an excellent ski school. It’s a great choice for

those wanting to learn to ski in a quiet & scenic spot.

There are hardly ever any queues on lifts, it’s great value & a perfect ski area for families.
